The PS 191 Parent Association (PTA) is a collaboration between the parents, teachers, and administrative staff of PS 191  dedicated to support the school and the community through various activities and events. Every PS 191 parent is automatically a member of the PTA (no sign up required!). We welcome and appreciate the participation of all the PTA members.

PTA Members

A “parent” of the student currently on the register of The Riverside School for Makers and Artists is automatically a member of the PTA. Term “parent” here is defined as any person in a parental or custodial relationship to the student, which includes Birthparent, Adoptive Parent, Foster Parent, Stepparent, Legally appointed guardian, etc. Please refer to PTA ByLaws Article III (A) (3) for complete description.

PTA Membership is also open to all teachers, paraprofessionals, school aides, school secretaries, engineers, food service workers, IT personnel, and other staff currently employed by the school in accordance with the ByLaws Article III (A) (4).

PTA's role in the school

The objectives of the PTA include but are not limited to:

1. Develop parent leadership and build capacity for greater involvement.

2. Foster and encourage parent participation at all levels.

3. Develop a cooperative relationship between the parents and staff of our school.

4. Provide opportunities and training for parents to participate in school governance and decision making.

5. Provide support and resources to the school for the benefit and educational growth of the students.
